History of The Studio

So where did it all begin?

Company Directors, Jocelyn Wilson and Graham Syder have been in the industry since the early 70’s. The Studio of Tableware first opened its doors in 1981 and has built a reputation based on integrity and reliability. They introduced many features that are now part of the every day retail scene - wedding registers, in-store cooking demonstrations, specialty gift-wrapping and a willingness to give the exceptional service that has put the business on the map.

The introduction of many world famous brands not previously represented in New Zealand give a well defined point of difference. Manufacturers of world famous brands such as Rosenthal, Christofle, Bernardaud and Fissler were approached directly and plans were conceived to give these top of the range brands their own location and identity within the store. The concept of ‘brand’ related spaces proved to be very successful and was popular with clients. The theme of brand related areas within the store was expanded over the years.

The Studio of Tableware pioneered the European concept of retailing tabletop with its strong emphasis on dinnerware, glassware, cutlery and cookware.

In 2005 The Studio of Tableware relocated to new premises approx. 3 km closer to the city end of Mt Eden Road.
The new location at 5 Harold St, Mt Eden (see our Location Map) has proven to be immensely popular with our clients, some of the beneficial features are:

· Central location close to motorways and less than 5 minutes from city
· Many quality retail shops, bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity
