ORANGIC SHAPES BROUGHT TO LIFT
Philippi call it art printing: 3D printing sounds so uncomfortably technical at first - so it ́s all the more amazing what breathtakingly organic shapes can be brought to life with it. The printer applies layer after layer of approximately 1mm-thick ceramic until it has worked its way up from the base to the opening after around two and a half (!) hours. The vase is then fired in the kiln at 1,200°C, whereby the fine layered structure is retained - an enchanting contrast to the flowing, light pleated look. Last but not least, Plissee is additionally sealed watertight from the inside with a glaze up to half its height. That´s why, for a long, long flower power life, it should ideally only be filled to this level. To prevent the fine structure from gradually washing out, it is happy to be cleaned by hand with a soft, damp cloth in the absence of a dishwasher.
